Rebeka Returns Home From New York City

Rebeka had a great time in New York where she performed at Schick's IntuitionFest 2003 in Central Park, New York City on May 10. Rebeka opened for Jewel at the concert which, was part of a daylong celebration for National Intuition Day.

Sponsored by Schick Shaving Products Group, the concert took place at SummerStage along with a number of other activities that were all part of Schick's launch for their new Women's "Intuition" razor. At the concert, Rebeka performed with a full band, teaming up with two Long Island musicians; Linda Macklay (percussion) and Bob Donaghy (electric bass) as well as Halifax musician Chris Iannetti on lead guitar.

Also while in the Big Apple, Rebeka gave a special Mother's Day performance at CB's 313 Gallery in New York's SoHo District. The performance gave those who attended a chance to hear Rebeka perform an acoustic set in a very intimate environment.

Next on Rebeka's calendar is a performance on the 18th Annual IWK Telethon on May 31st at 9:10 PM. The show will be broadcast live on the ATV network from Halifax, Nova Scotia. The telethon is a Maritime tradition that raises well over $3 million annually for the IWK Health Centre. As a tertiary care centre dedicated to education, family-centered care, research and health promotion, the IWK Health Centre provides quality care to children, women and families in the three Maritime provinces and beyond.

Rebeka Reed Nominated for 2003 Canadian Indies Pop Album of the Year

Rebeka Reed and her debut album ‘Pharaoh's Daughter' have been nominated for the 2003 Canadian Independent Music Awards "The Indies"- Pop Album of the Year. The Indies were founded to acknowledge, promote and honor the independent music sector in the Canadian music industry. This year the kick-off event for Canadian Music Week 2003 marks the 3rd annual Canadian Independent Music Awards presentation.

This is the fifth nomination for Rebeka and her debut album "Pharaoh's Daughter" since September 2002. The other nominations include:

This past year Rebeka has had a number of other achievements as an independent artist including many television and radio appearances, having three of the songs on the "Pharaoh's Daughter" CD get community, campus, Internet and commercial radio airplay around the world (including regular rotation major commercial radio stations). During the summer of 2002, Rebeka opened three of Jewel's US Tour dates in Ft. Lauderdale, Boston and Detroit and helped to celebrate Canada Day in Washington DC with the Canadian Embassy.

After receiving rave reviews for the CD, Rebeka is ready for the official national release of "Pharaoh's Daughter". The CD, complete with new artwork, will be released February 13, 2003 in Halifax during the ECMA conference, and then in Toronto at the B-Side Club February 27 - 9:00 PM where Rebeka is showcasing for Canadian Music Week.
